Top Communication Tools for Businesses

January 23rd, 20121 Comment

  • Social Media: Whether you have a Facebook Page, a Twitter account or you're being followed on Foursquare, social media involvement has become a necessity for businesses today. Depending on your service, product and audience, you may be listed only on one of these mediums or you may want to be active on a ll of them. The key is to know your audience's tastes and then develop a strategy for consistent and engaging communication.

  • Website: Your website is a point of contact for potential customers and should hold the information that your customers need to make an informed decision. If you're not selling on your site, then you need to be persuading enough to have people want to contact you. This means well-written landing pages and a well-structured and easily navigable site with the company and / or product information people need to know about.

  • Newsletters: These communication tools are excellent in paper or via email. They are able to convey all of the recent goings-on within your company and also any other pertinient information that has affected your market in the time between newsletters. Newsletters should be sent out on a consistent schedule; not too far between and not too often. Seasonal, bi-monthly or monthly contact works best. If you have a natural writer in your company, take advantage of their services. If not, it is worth it to hire a copywriter from a marketing firm. The tone should reflect your copany and the demographic you are trying to reach and should provide valuable and interesting information.

  • Blogs: A company blog is a fantastic way to give information and receive valuable feedback from your customers, potential customers and other industry experts. There are many free and easy to use blog platforms that can be easily integrated with a company website. Again, blogs need to be updated on a regular basis and provide interesting facts, news and information.

  • Press Releases: A great way to alert online and traditional media of new developments and newsworthy events in your company. There are Press Release distribution sites that distribute your news at the touch of a button and target the specific media and industries you select. Press releases are essential for larger contests, sales, humanitarian efforts and any major company or industry information that you want broadcasted immediately.
